Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW), a prestigious unit of Indian Railways, has invited online applications for the PLW Apprentice Recruitment 2025. A total of 225 Act Apprentice posts are available for candidates who have completed ITI, 10th, or 8th standard in relevant trades. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel), Machinist, Fitter Trades:
    10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with minimum 50% marks or 10th pass along with ITI certificate in relevant trades.
  • Welder (Gas & Electrician) Trade:
    8th pass with NCVT/NTC or Provisional NTC (PNTC) as per Apprentices Act, 1961.

Note: Only candidates who have completed the required trade certificate before 01 December 2025 will be eligible.

Age Limit

  • Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel), Machinist, Fitter Trades: 15 – 24 years
  • Welder (Gas & Electrician) Trade: 15 – 22 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years

Salary/Stipend

The monthly stipend for PLW Act Apprentices is as per Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship guidelines:

Application Fee

  • Processing Fee: Rs. 100 + applicable bank charges
  • Mode of Payment: Online (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking)
  • Candidates whose payment is not approved initially must submit the fee within 48 hours.

Selection Process

  1. Merit-Based Selection: Based on marks obtained in Matriculation and ITI exams.
    • Average marks formula: (Matriculation 70% + ITI 80%) ÷ 2 = 75%
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates must submit a certificate from a government-authorized doctor.

Note: Candidates who have already availed of the Craftsman Training Scheme are not eligible.
