The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Northern Railway, New Delhi has released an official notification inviting applications from eligible Indian sportspersons for recruitment against the Sports Quota for the year 2025-26. A total of 38 vacancies are available across various divisions and workshops of Northern Railway in Level-1 of Pay Matrix (7th CPC).
Candidates who have achieved notable success in recognized national or international sports events and meet the eligibility criteria can apply online through the official RRC Northern Railway website.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- 18 to 25 years as on 01/01/2026
- No relaxation in age is allowed
- Proof of age must be 10th/Matric certificate or equivalent
Educational Qualification
- Minimum: 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent
- Candidates with higher education should also upload 12th, Graduation, or Post-Graduation certificates
Sports Qualification
- Achievements in recognized events from 01/04/2023 to the date of notification will be considered
- Championships must be under recognized International/National/State Sports Federations and approved by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB)
- Minimum norms include representing India in Category C championships, or achieving top positions in Federation Cup/National events depending on the sport
- For Badminton, Table Tennis, and Tennis, current All India Ranking will be considered for eligibility
Salary/Stipend
- Level-1 of Pay Matrix 7th CPC (GP-1800/- as per 6th CPC) Rs. 18000 to 56900/-
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted through a combination of trials, assessment of sports achievements, and educational qualifications:
- Screening & Document Verification
- Original certificates for age, education, sports achievements, caste, and NOC (if employed) must be produced
- Self-attested copies and recent photographs are required
- Trials & Assessment of Skills
- Conducted by a Trial Committee
- Scoring based on game skill, physical fitness, and coach observations (40 Marks)
- Minimum qualifying score: 25 Marks
- Assessment of Sports Achievements & Education
- Sports achievements (50 Marks)
- Education and general intelligence/personality (10 Marks)
- Final Merit List
- Based on total marks from trials and assessment
- In case of tie, younger candidates are given preference
- Medical Examination
- Selected candidates must meet the medical fitness standards prescribed for the post

Fee Payment: Only via online mode. Cash, DD, IPO, or central recruitment fee stamps are not accepted.
Minority candidates must submit a self-declaration during application. Economically Backward Classes (EBC) must provide income certificate (family income < ₹50,000/year).
Important Instructions
- Multiple applications for different disciplines require separate application and fee
- No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided during trials
- Candidates must bring their own playing kit
- Any false/fake documents, impersonation, or use of banned substances will result in candidature rejection and legal action
- Selected sportspersons are required to perform in their sport for a minimum of 5 years, with performance monitored during the 2-year probation period
- Final appointments are at the discretion of the Northern Railway Administration
