Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana with the goal of providing LPG gas cylinder benefits to economically disadvantaged women across the country. Recently, the government has initiated the second phase of this scheme, referred to as PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0. Women who have not yet availed themselves of this scheme can now apply to receive its benefits by submitting their applications.
What is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0?
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 aims to provide clean cooking fuel access to economically disadvantaged women in both rural and urban areas. Beneficiaries of this scheme receive free gas connections, gas stoves, and the first gas cylinder refill at no cost. Furthermore, subsidies on subsequent gas refills, ranging from ₹200 to ₹450 depending on the state, are also provided. Aadhaar-based KYC verification is mandatory for applicants to avail themselves of these benefits under the scheme.
